Context-sensitive Menu
Using a stylus, you may select the presence icon to get a context-sensitive menu. Using a 5-way navigator, pressing the right button on the selection also gets a context-sensitive menu.

Quick Search
Writing the first character of a contact name will jump to that contact.

Quick Connect
Support the 'Quick Connect' feature available on selected Palm devices (Tungsten T3 or Tungsten T5). Users can store IM addresses in the Address Book. Using the 'Quick Connect' feature of the Address Book, choosing a contact and then the IM address will switch to Chatopus. There, you can immediately send an IM message or read the IM history.

We are getting close to the official 1.0 with this beta release! The following features are added in beta 5:
- Expanded screen support, including 320x480 and 480x320 resolutions
- QVGA resolutions (240x240) support with QVGA icons
- Messages will continue to be received even when the user is using system modal dialogs, such as the Find Dialog.
- Several minor UI enhancements
- Turned-off LCD screens will not be lit up while Chatopus is running in background

This beta release has changed the formats of some internal databases and is not backward compatible with previous versions. To upgrade Chatopus from previous versions, please delete Chatopus and their associated databases.
Many long-waited features are added, including the following:
- Chatopus can now runs in background! You could start Chatopus, get online and switch to other applications. Chatopus will continue to run and you would receive messages as they arrive.
- A new option is added so that only online users will be shown.
- The screen is redrawn properly after the pull-down menu is disclosed.
- Priority field is added in Account Setup.
- There are numerous enhancements in the Account Setup screen.
- And some bug fixes.

Lots of testing have been performed to ensure it is a rather stable release. However, not all planned features for 1.0 are there yet. Database formats may be changed in future and your message history may not be preserved in upgrading.
